Some Ecumenical Resources on the Internet

Wailing Wall

Odyssey: Exploring Life's Journey is the new name for the Faith & Values interfaith channel. In operation since 1988 as VISN (Vision Interfaith Satellite Network), the name was changed to Faith & Values in 1992 with the addition of the Southern Baptist American Christian Television System. This new name marks its self-supporting status since it was formerly subsidized. Presently, Odyssey is said to reach 26 million homes.

The Faith & Values (F&V) Channel is currently being carried on Primestar, a direct-to-home (direct access) small-dish satellite system. Primestar carries Faith & Values on its Channel 83. It is Primestar's only religious channel and is available on all three tiers of Primestar programming. Faith and Values is available on 1,500 U.S. cable systems and reaches 24.1 million homes. It is owned jointly by VISN Management Corp., a subsidiary of the National Interfaith Cable Coalition, and Liberty Media Corp., a subsidiary of Tele-Communications, Inc. The coalition is a consortium of 64 Protestant, Jewish, Catholic and Eastern Orthodox faith groups and evangelical traditions. For more information about Primestar, call (800)-774-6378

What do Mr. Rogers, Jeff Smith ("The Frugal Gourmet") and Bill Moyers all have in common? They're all ordained Protestant ministers! (Presbyterian, Methodist, and Baptist) Just like Mother Angelica and Archbishop Fulton Sheen or Fr. Elwood Keiser, C.S.P., some of our most popular television personalities have been religious leaders as well. We can find some of them and others in the listings below.
